What will I need to become a coach or bus driver?
In order to apply for your provisional Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence, you must have a valid UK or EU car driving licence and also pass a medical.

Which category licence is right for you?
PCV licenses are spilt into two categories depending on the weight and the size of the vehicle. These are known as Category 'D' and Category 'D1'
Category D: is any bus or coach with more than 8 passenger seats and a trailer weighing up to 750kg. Minimum age of driver is 18 years.
Category D1: Small passenger-carrying vehicles with 9 to 16 passenger seats and a trailer weighing up to 750kg. Minimum age of driver is 18 years.
